Our
Mission
1.
To raise the awareness of the community concerning the reality of
hunger on a local level, outside of our immediate area, ans in the
world.
2.
To permit and promote the opportunity of gathering food and monetary
resources to be used in our own community and beyond.
Project
Hunger seeks to tell the story about the reality of hunger to all
who would be interested and want to do something about it. Hunger
has been prevalent in many parts of the world throughout all ages.
Hunger permanently impairs or destroys the very lives of millions
of people all over the world every year. Around twenty-four thousand
people die every day because of hunger-related causes. Approximately
one hundred times as many people who actually die suffer from hunger
and malnutrition. Nearly all of these are unknown to a world which
shares in God's abundance which we experience and know so well.
Probably the main reason that all of this is happening stems from
apathy or assuming that surely someone is taking care of their needs
without our help.
The
goal of Project Hunger is to address this situation through education
and action. Nearly every community we know has some method to help
the hungry, homeless, and hurting through local food banks, pantries,
missions, shelters, and the like.
The
real problem areas that need our immediate attention are the countries
where rampant hunger, starvation, disease, and lack of basic health
and shelter facilities exist. It is our firm belief that we can
best work through private hunger/relief/health organizations that
have a history of having the most commitment and ability to be of
greater help where it is needed. Therefore, we sincerely encourage
those who have a heart for this type of ministry to share in the
opportunities and challenges that confront all of us at this time
and in the future. May the Lord enable us to grow and experience
some of the many rewards that lie ahead for us.
